Active Duty & Veterans

Serving the Military Community

Having served eight years in the Royal Canadian Navy, I’ve been fortunate to gain firsthand experience of military life, its values, and its unique culture. This background gives me a deep understanding of the challenges faced by military members and their families.

My goal in working with both current and former military personnel is to provide a space where you feel truly understood. One of the biggest barriers to seeking mental health support in the Canadian Armed Forces is the belief that a civilian therapist “just wouldn’t get it.”

My hope is that my experience in the CAF can help bridge that gap, offering you a therapeutic environment where you feel seen, heard, and supported in overcoming your struggles.

My Approach

When working with active-duty members and veterans, it is essential to tailor therapy to their unique experiences while honoring their individuality. I use evidence-based psychotherapeutic techniques to help uncover the underlying causes of your struggles, working with you to identify and address the root of the issue.

Together, we will explore life before the military, examining how your personality evolved—and what remained unchanged—throughout your service. For veterans, we will also reflect on the transition out of the Forces, understanding the reasons for leaving and assessing whether you are where you want to be post-service.

My goal is to help both active members and veterans achieve self-realization and move forward in a direction that aligns with their values and aspirations. The process may be challenging, and at times, it may bring up emotions and experiences tied to your military service—both positive and negative. However, by tapping into your innate resilience and courage, we can work together to help you overcome obstacles and build a fulfilling future.

Fees & Benefits

I am a Certified Clinical Counsellor with the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association, which qualifies me as a Medavie Blue Cross practitioner. This means that all veterans and active-duty members are eligible for coverage. I can either directly bill your insurance provider or provide a receipt for you to submit on your behalf.

Please contact me before our sessions to set up pre-authorization for direct billing. If you have any questions about your coverage, feel free to reach out—I’m happy to assist!
